Panama Culture - 21 Days

Day 1
Transfer from the airport to the hotel.

Day 2
We will visit the modern City and next Casco Viejo, the antique neighborhood of San Felipe with his colonial churches, and next visit the Miraflores Locks at the Panama Canal. In the evening, enjoy a Panamanian dinner and a folkloric dance show.

Day 3
Early morning, we’ll travel by canoe over the Chagres River and Visit the Embera Indians, You will get to know the culture, traditions and their handicraft. Also and you can enjoy of the exuberant rainforest, as well as take a shower in their waterfall to get to know their way of life and their dances.

Day 4 /5
In the morning our driver will take you to EL Valle that is located at 700 meters on the sea level in the crater of a Gigantic Volcano extinguished million of years ago. During the tour you are going to visit the handicrafts market, the museum, the square trees, El Nispero Zoo and observe the tiny golden frogs. At night we delight a delicious dinner.

Day 6
We departure from El Valle to Penonome, the capital of the province of Cocle. It was founded in 1581, after the destruction of Panama City (today Old Panama). Penonome is known for the "Pintaos" hats, made from palm fibers in two colors: black and white.

Day 7
These are sold at La Pintada Handicraft Market, which has on display an ample variety of styles and materials, according to the regions and town where they were made. In our stay we’ll visit the Penonome museum and the Parque Arqueologico El Caño, and Sun and Sugar Museum.

Day 8 / 9
Continue to Chitre has a natural wealth between its forest parks, ecological beaches, thermal waters, etc. We are going to know about their history in the Herrera museum. You will see one of the most beautiful traditional dress of the world, “the pollera”. It is made completely by hand and is considered one of the most spectacular folkloric dresses in the world. It can take from six to twelve months to make it. This place conserve their costumes and traditions and its is one of the authentic cities that maintain their cultural heritage. We will visit the museum of Belisario Porras, the Museum of la Nacionalidad, which used to be the Cabildo of Los Santos.

Day 10
Continuing with our trip, From Chitré to Chiriquí.

Day 11
We’ll continue to the Volcan Baru National Park, which was established in 1976. The Volcan Baru Park is adjacent to a one million acre. We are going to visit a historical place the Sitio Barriles, their name stand for the indians that used to lived between 300 b.c. to 600 a.c., where a huge rock called Petrogiflos stand from the culture of the Barriles, this place is considered a human patrimony heritage, because of their important to society.

Day 12
La Amistad, International Park is share between Costa Rica and Panama. Our 770 acre (350 hectares) preserve has been protected by the private efforts of its founders since 1968. It is our privilege to offer the only eco-vacation compound in Panama or Costa Rica. The fauna is extremely diverse, with intermigrations from both North and South America. One of the 115 fish species, 20 of the 250 herpetofauna species, 13 of the 215 mammalian species and 15-30 of the 600 species of birds are endemic to the region of Cordillera de Talamanca. The area is one of the most ecologically diverse in the whole of Panama and Central-America. Tropical rain forests have covered most of the area since at least the last glaciation, about 25,000 years ago, in an assemblage ranging from lowland tropical rain forest to cloud and sub-alpine paramo forests. You may also find recent prints left by mountain lions, ocelots, tapirs, etc.

Day 13 / 14
Continue to Boquete Located in our exclusive private nature reserve at an altitude ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 feet above sea level, The town is a unique and preferred destination for people interested in exploring its rich flora and fauna, for bird watchers, nature photographers and eco-tourism in general. We’ll visit an special site that has been a unique destination for birders for over 70 years. We will discover pristine streams and cascading waterfalls. Over 100 bird species may be spotted. You may also find recent prints left by mountain lions, ocelots, tapirs, etc. Trails vary in difficulty and duration (from 1/2 hour to 4 hours).

Day 15
Early in the morning we’ll departure to the islands of Bocas Del Toro, which is the essence and the mirror of Caribbean Panama. During the trip you can enjoy of the exuberant rainforest. Their nine islands and 251 cays that form the archipelago are a haven for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts.

Day 16
Bocas del Toro is located in the extreme western part of the country, only 40 kilometers from the Republic of Costa Rica. This archipelago has the perfect combination of nature and historical and cultural traditions, with a charming variety of aquatic species, coral reefs, mangroves, tropical forest, beaches with crystal clear water, undisturbed jungles with all the flora and fauna you can imagine.

Day 17
We will visit the Isla Bastimentos marine National Park; we will see the coral reefs, the mangrove swamp, the nesting beaches and the lagoons to the south of the coast. The coral reefs make it an ideal place for diving. On the other hand, the lagoons offer the visitor the opportunity to see different species, just as interesting, like the freshwater turtles and the crocodiles, in addition to the red frog, very poisonous and which only exist in the archipelago.

Day 18
We will visit the Zapatilla Island, Dolphin Island and Boca Del Drago. Each one have a beautiful beach with sand, with fabulous arc or palm trees along of the edge of the Caribbean, where you can experiment the more relaxing adventure you can ever imaging.

Day 19
Boca Del Drago. Is a place to dream, is a place to walk barefoot in the sand, to romp in the wave, to sleep in the shadow of a palm tree, and get to admire a beautiful west sun, all of these islands are found in a very calm bay; that’s is eminent for the seaman like a refuge against the tropical storm.

Day 20
Today, we leave Bocas del Toro to return to Panama City, a long day journey.

Day 21
Transfer from the hotel to the airport.
