Ecology Ride - 8 Days
Day 1
Arrival to Panama City.
Day 2
Early in the morning we will travel to Barro Colorado Island, a living tropical laboratory use by the Smithsonian Institute of Tropical Research. It is located in a lake that is part of the Panama Canal. Barro Colorado Island alone is home to 115 mammal species, including 72 species of bats, 5 species of monkeys, agoutis, tapirs, coatimundis, sloths and peccaries. Its botanical wealth is similarly impressive: more than 1,200 plant species can be found on the Island.
Day 3
We visit the Metropolitan Natural Park which is the only natural park in Cental America located a five minutes from the city. This park is a habitat for more the 360 species of birds. We continue to Gamboa where we can to admire many animals in their habitats.
Day 4
Today we visit the Soberania National Park. This is a bird watchers paradise! A world record was set with 525 different species of birds recorded in one day. Go bird watching as you hike down some of the trails in the park, like the Camino del Oleoducto. It is 55,000 acres featuring many species of plants and animals and has been recognized the world over for the diversity of birds. Soberania is located off of the banks of the Panama Canal and is only 15 minutes from Panama City.
Day 5 / 6
Today we continue to El Valle and we are going to visit the Něspero, and The Macho with it’s spectacular waterfall from Amarilla Stream with a height of 35 meters, considered to be an ecological refugee due to its exuberant vegetation it poses.- In this day we will visit nature and bird watching in a pristine rainforest and spectacular views and we will have a guide for hiking to the India Dormida mountain, where the myth said that an Indian called Jaravi was in loved with a beautiful Indian princess, but was not corresponded, because her love was a Spanish conquer, for that reason he decided to commit suicide in front of all their people.
Day 7
We will return to Panama City, and take a tour to visit the modern City and next Casco Viejo, which it’s colonial churches. Next we will visit Miraflores Locks at the Panama Canal. And at night we will go to enjoy a Panamanian dinner and a folkloric dance show. Return to your hotel after dinner.
Day 8
Transfer from the hotel to the airport.
