Birdwaching - 13 Days
Day 1
Transfer from the airport to the hotel
Day 2
We will visit the modern City and next Casco Viejo, the antique neighborhood of San Felipe with his colonial churches, San Francisco, the square of the vault. We’ll make a stop for lunch and next visit the Canal Museum, the Miraflores Locks at the Panama Canal. In the evening, enjoy a Panamanian dinner and a folkloric dance show. Return to your hotel after dinner.
Day 3
Today we visit the Soberania National Park. This is a bird watchers paradise! A world record was set with 525 different species of birds recorded in one day. Go bird watching as you hike down some of the trails in the park, like the Camino del Oleoducto. It is 55,000 acres featuring many species of plants and animals and has been recognized the world over for the diversity of birds. Soberania is located off of the banks of the Panama Canal and is only 20 minutes from Panama City.
Day 4
Continue with our tour, we will visit Semaphore Hill, You can start your explorations of the forests of Central Panama right on the road up Semaphore Hill.. Here you will get a chance to see birds and mammals that spend their lives closer to the forest floor, like antbirds and Agoutis, The bird list of Semaphore Hill Road is extensive, and includes birds from the forest interior as well as edge dwellers. Olivaceous Flatbill and White-whiskered Puffbird are common, and Slate-colored Grosbeak, Bay-headed Tanager, and Great Jacamar are seen frequently. Great Tinamou and Marbled Wood-Quail are heard often, but to see them takes a little more work. This road is also great for raptors: White, Tiny and Bicolored Hawks have been seen, and during migation it's easy to see more than 10 species of warblers and migratory songbirds in one morning.
Day 5
Plantation Road, and Charco Rail. Platation Road is the best place in Central Panama to find forest birds, and plenty of them. When visiting Plantation Road you also have a good chance to find an army ant swarm and many of the birds that follow these swarms as they roam the forest floor. Spotted, Bi-colored and Ocellated Antbirds, Gray-headed Tanagers, and Plain-brown, Northern Barred and (if you're lucky) RuddyWoodcreepers. And if you're really lucky you may even find a Hook-billed Kite.
Day 6
Pipeline Road is the best place in Central Panama to find forest birds, and plenty of them. Eight species of wrens, five trogons, four puffbirds, three motmots, many antbirds and even more flycatchers have been reported from the road. And if its 17 Km are not enough, there's plenty of side trails plus eleven creeks and rivers that can be followed into the forest. Army antswarms are found frequently, attended sometimes by Rufous-vented Ground-Cuckoo, and there are many Manakin leks right beside the road. Pipeline Road is also a great place for raptors: all three Forest-Falcons are heard if not seen with ease, and Tiny and Plumbeous Hawks and Ornate Hawk-Eagles have been reported a few times. A Harpy Eagle was seen one time right beside the road!
Day 7
We are going to visit the Metropolitan Natural Park. You should expect to see some species of birds that are rare if not absent in those areas. The beautiful Rosy Thrush-Tanager is common, as is the striking Lance-tailed Manakin. It's also a good place to look for Sepia-capped Flycatcher and you have a shot at the endemic Yellow-green Tyrannulet as well. And if the resident birds are not enough, each September the bird list of the park grows substantially with the arrival of two dozen species of warblers and other migratory birds.
Day 8
In this day we will travel to Chiriqui, which is near to Costa Rica’s border.
Day 9 /10 /11
We will visit the diffrent places . Many of the birds found in Panama can be seen in Chiriquí, as well as many species of plants and trees. Hike through the pristine forest to a hidden waterfall leaving civilization behind and relax listening to the sound of bird calls and the soft rush of the stream formed by waters from the fall. Panama has 1200 species of orchids, and in this place you will observe many of them. We continue visiting others trails, where we can observed Flora and Birds, as well as the natural reserve, Amistal National Park, with 207, 000 acres, which was declared World Patrimony by Unesco. Continue to Boquete, located in our exclusive private nature reserve at an altitude ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 feet above sea level, The town is a unique and preferred destination for people interested in exploring its rich flora and fauna, for bird watchers, nature photographers and eco-tourism in general. We visit an special site which has been a unique destination for birders for over 70 years. We have a great variety of Hummingbirds, among them the Violet Saberwing, Stripe-tailed Hummingbird, White-tailed Emerald, Volcano Hummingbird, White-throated Mountain – Gem, Scintillant Hummingbird.
Day 12
This day we return to Panama City, where we can observe the different views of Panama.
Day 13
At the appropriate hour we will be transfer to the international airport for departure.
